Lester Knox Sr. School of Barbering
We at the Lester Knox Sr. School of Barbering have culminated a combined 96 years of experience and services in the Phoenix area.
The creator, pioneer, instructor and master barber Lester Knox Sr. started barbering here in downtown Phoenix in 1962.
His death in 2019 encouraged the creation and need to continue a legacy of unparalleled service in the city of Phoenix. This school was created not only to honor the commitment and contribution of Mr. Knox but also to empower tomorrow’s leaders today.
Courses
Barber Stylist
This course is designed to teach and train barbering in English with the basis manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes.
Barber Stylist Program for Licensed Cosmetologist
This course is designed to teach barbering in English to individuals previously licensed as a Cosmetologist in Arizona.

Aspiring Barbers Workshop
Lester Knox Sr. pioneered one of the first African-American barbershops in Phoenix, accommodating athletes, common folk, as well as famous celebrities such as Muhammad Ali, just to note a few.
Our barbering courses teach classic barbering and clipper cutting techniques, focusing on men and women’s trends, shapes and styles.
The way people view and understand barbering has changed drastically and evolved over the past decade.
We have served as an integral component in the evolution of creative haircutting throughout the valley of the sun.
