Barber Stylist Course

Required Hours & State Requirements:

1,200 Clock Hours

In order to work as a Professional Barber in the State of Arizona, an individual must possess a Barber License. In order to obtain a license, the individual must complete 1200 Clock Hours of a Barber Stylist Training in a licensed barber school.

Course Description:

This course is designed to teach and train barbering in English with basis manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes. Successful completion of the course and pass the State Board examination, which qualifies the graduate to perform barbering services for the pay in any establishment licensed by the Arizona State Board of Barbers.

Educational Objectives:

This is an entry level course in the arts and sciences of barbering. Student will be trained both theory and practical work to assist them in gaining al the skills necessary to become a successful barber. The maximum student/teacher ratio is 20:1, required by the Arizona State Board of Barbers. The student will prepare to take, and successfully pass the State Board Examination.

Measure of Course Duration:

32 Weeks Full-Time; 35+ Hours per Week ( 8 months)
64 Weeks Part-Time; 20 Hours per Week (16 months)

Schedule School Hours

Full-time 8:30am to 5:00pm

Part-time 8:30am to12:30pm

Course Format:

The course is taught with a combination of lecture, demonstration, and student practice, and experience on the public under the supervision of a licensed instructor. All aspects of barbering will begin with a lecture on each subject. After each lecture, there will be practical demonstrations. Audio visual materials are used to enhance certain topics. Written and practical testing are done to evaluate progress and identify any weakness.

Cosmetology to Barber

Required Hours & State Requirements:

200 Clock Hours

In order to work as a Barber Stylist in the State of Arizona, an individual must possess a Barber Stylist License. In order to obtain a Barber Stylist License, the individual who has a Arizona Cosmetologist License must complete 200 Clock Hours of barber training in a licensed barber school.

Course Description:

This course is designed to teach barbering in English to individuals previously licensed as a Cosmetologist in Arizona. Successful completion of the course and pass the State Board examination, which qualifies the graduate to perform barbering services for pay in any establishment licensed by Arizona State Board of Barbers.
